HVAC Air & Surface Screening Bundle

This bundle has been designed to help assess whether an air-conditioning or HVAC system may be contributing to mould contamination within the indoor environment.

Two air samples are taken for comparison – one with the system switched off and one while the system is running.

A surface sample is also taken from inside the air-conditioning unit or vent to assess mould contamination present within the system.

Choose between our Standard Genus Swab or upgrade to the HouseTest Toxigenic Mould DNA Swab for more detailed species identification.

Air Sampling

The two air cassettes measure airborne mould spores and identify mould by genus, allowing the results taken with the air-conditioning system off and running to be compared.

Genus Swab – Standard

Identifies mould present on the sampled surface by genus.

HouseTest DNA Swab – Enhanced

Uses DNA analysis to identify 20 common toxigenic mould species associated with water-damaged environments. This option provides more targeted species-level information and is particularly suited to HVAC systems, vents and other confined areas.

One air sample should be taken with the air-conditioning/HVAC system switched off, followed by a second sample with the system running, in accordance with the supplied instructions.

The surface sample should be taken from an appropriate accessible area within the air-conditioning unit or vent.

The standard option provides genus-level surface identification. Customers wanting more targeted species identification should select the HouseTest Toxigenic Mould DNA Swab – Enhanced option.

The air pump is provided on loan and must be returned before samples can be sent to the laboratory.

4 × AA batteries are required and are not supplied. Please remove batteries before returning the pump.

On receipt of your samples, Mould Lab will send them to the laboratory via FedEx Express Delivery, normally 1–3 business days.

Once received by the laboratory, analysis is normally completed the next business day.
